I love the broad vistas of the Everglades, especially when the summer thunderstorms are rolling across Florida. Many people ask me if I am scared of the snakes or alligators I encounter. I’ve rarely had problems with animals. To me, lightning is far more unpredictable and scary than any wild animal.

Here the earth connects with the heavens above and rain that flows from the many numerous storms of spring and summer oxygenates and recharges the waters, which are so vital to the life that inhabits this complex and highly dynamic system. The aquatic plants contribute significantly to dissolved oxygen gas as well, and they join with the very rock foundation in filtering the waters as they gently flow over this immense terrain. This priceless wetland, like other wetlands on this planet, acts as earth’s kidneys, filtering and regulating our body’s fluids, maintaining hydration, and removing impurities.
