ACADIA PINNACLES 7
Nestled along the rocky coast of Maine, this gem of an island boasts gentle green rolling landscapes and a dramatic rugged coastline. My wanderings led me to discover a narrow trail leading into the woods and eventually to a cliff overlooking the coast. I had to carefully place my 11”x 14” view camera at the cliff’s edge to get the perspective I wanted. Positioning my camera so close to the edge posed a challenge as it made accessing the front of my camera and working with the lens tricky.
After publishing this image, I received an invitation from the Friends of Acadia to return and take more pictures of the area. In 2008, I revisited the park and expanded my collection of photos. This endeavor aimed to create an exhibit and a book to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service and marked the beginning of my journey to photograph as many parks as possible before the 2016 anniversary celebration!
